4.5. Setup ActiveSync - iPhone, IPad, iPod

Set Up ActiveSync® - iPhone™, iPad™, iPod®

Enabling ActiveSync will allow your entire Microsoft Exchange account including your email, contacts and calendar to sync with your Apple iPhone/iPad/iPod email, contacts and calendar. If you just want your email to access only your email (for FREE) please follow the IMAP setup instructions.

Prerequisites:

To set up Exchange:

  1. Log into your User Control Panel or contact TownLife Support Helpdesk.
  2. Under the Client Setup section, click the ActiveSync link. This will open the Setting Up ActiveSync window. You will need this information to set up the account.
  3. On the iPhone, tap the Settings icon.

  1. Tail Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

 

  1. Tap Add Account then Microsoft Exchange.

 

  1. The Exchange setup screen will open. Enter the following information
    • Email - Enter your entire email address (e.g., myname@mydomain.com), using all lowercase letters.
    • Domain - Leave this field blank
    • Username - Enter in your entire email address again.
    • Password - Enter in the password for your email account.
    • Description - Enter a descriptive name for your account (e.g., My Work Account). This description will be visible only to you.

  1. Tap the Next button and the device will attempt to verify the account. You may receive an "Unable to Verify Certificate message." Tap the Accept button.
  2. Next, tap the Server field, and enter mobilesync.emailsrvr.com in the Server address field. If confirmed, you'll check marks next to every field.

  1. Tap the ON/OFF buttons to select which information you would like to synchronize and then tap the Save button when finished.

Note: In order for contacts to sync from the device to the server you will have to change the default account for settings to "Exchange" rather than "On my Iphone."

Settings > Mail, Calendar, Contacts > Select the Exchange Account > Scroll down to contacts > Default Account  > Change to Exchange.
